Interesting in that I would have been one baby tossed aside. In fact, my Irish Catholic father was encouraged after I was born to allow me to die “naturally” by withholding nutrition. After all it was 1965 and myelomeningocele’s treatment at the time was still largely euthanasia. Thank God for dad - he made it clear, despite the poor odds of a lifetime of pain and mental retardation among many surgeries, that my path to God was between me and God. No man had a right to decide his son’s life. 58 years later it ain’t been easy, but I honor the old man now by doing my best to help others get closer to their God in recovery from addiction. As a therapist, I was taught to “meet people where they are” and I do; but cow-towing to woke demands was never a part of the deal. Needless to say I wasn’t popular with some crowds. I stuck with what I believed was right and eventually left the field, doing the best I can today pro bono. I don’t tell you this to inspire anything other that it takes work and sacrifice to do the next right thing - but it sure is nice to sleep at nite. I have asked several in the new DEI corporate world how they sleep at night and I just get a blank stare. Sad. But it won’t stop me.
Strangely enough, my husband’s paternal grandmother—a God-fearing, church-going Southern Baptist—tried to convince her daughter-in-law to abort my husband. Her reasoning was that he was going to be too much of a burden to her son (my husband’s dad) who was already in his mid 40s and struggling with heart disease. My husband’s three siblings were already adults and therefore no longer “burdensome” to their parents. Thankfully, my mother-in-law was a strong believer, trusted in God’s mercy and provision, and didn’t listen to Granny. It turned out that my husband was a great blessing and help to his grandparents and aging mom, especially after his dad passed away when my husband was just a teenager. My mother-in-law shared this information with me shortly after Granny died. Both women had lived during the Great Depression, were regular churchgoers, but had radically different views about the sanctity of life.
He certainly has and thank you!!! I feel so badly sometimes posting on Adrian’s posts bc my story is a little old but I get coincidentally connected so much. Coincidence is God’s way of working anonymously.
I think of how many children born with Downs who would have been left to a horrible fate- they are truly angels on earth. I feel blessed to know them. Everyone has something to give if only given the chance. Funny, evil can’t be seen (it’s not like a birth mark or physical sign) and yet evil is allowed to exist and (now) encouraged even. Sad what our world is becoming. I am seeing glimmers of hope and more and more of us Christians saying “enough” and willing to call out the evil for what it is. God help us all.
A couple of years ago the Atlantic actually ran a piece on the disappearance of down children in Iceland. I pointed the article out to an Irish friend of mine who responded that although she “did not to communicate that any child was unwanted” the situation in Iceland was “ethical because the women had made the decisions in consultation with their doctors.” Such is the illogic of even well meaning secular people. They just cannot grasp that terminating a down child in the womb is taking away the right to life of a person.
this does encourage others to share, and certainly relate.
No one is born "perfect" anyway. There are always "unknown unknowns"
and every life is deserving of fullness. Sadly our governments world wide are more focused on wars and spending OUR money experimenting on humanity, instead of encouraging the less advantaged in some of these dirt poor countries.
Instead, just throw them a few rusty Toyotas and treadle sewing machines

My daughter’s boyfriend went to a showing in Austin — Austin, mind you — and the theatre was full. My close friend and her husband went on July 14 in Houston and again the theater was full —and it was a very multi-racial audience to boot. Our elite would-be overlords just want people to believe that only a small group of people care — and it’s because they are QAnon crazy or aligned. As if…

Definitely a paradigm shift. Normalization is the point. It is the telos of all the cultural plays that we see being run. The last time we saw culture thoroughly normalized with sin was when,
"The Lord saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that all the thoughts and plans they formed in their hearts were only evil every day." (Genesis 6:5)
So, Moses leads the Jews out of Egyptian slavery, goes up on the mountain to get the commandments, and what does he find when he returns . . A golden calf and a bunch of Normies.
Truth Cody. God’s word in 2Tim 3: But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceded, lovers of pleasure, rather than lovers of God-having a form of godliness, but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
I’ve told people, we’re looking more like Ancient Rome every day... and you don’t even have to go back to the ancients. Just think of the plight of children even in London or New York, in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Beautiful piece, beautiful comments. Gotta push back every way, every day. The heaviest responsibility lies with health care providers (including bioethics), teachers, clergy, & parents. Remember, Christ said those who love family more than Him isn't worthy of Him. My adult sons & family might not like what is The Truth, but I can't stand by & allow them to fall in with the "normies" without a good fight. Christ said He'd vomit out the lukewarm, aka the normies. Shared this gem.

Absolutely beautiful. No child is a burden.
God bless you, Jim!

Don’t feel bad, your wisdom is much appreciated - and God bless your dad!
Thanks! Dad was the best!!!

Adrian, I am horrified to realize that you are right. This is no phase. God help us.
The LGB community allowed the T+ to arrive and now regret it https://suedonym.substack.com/p/hey-gays-prepare-for-the-backlash. But as "Sound of Freedom" movie attracts a real audience, change may be coming. Observe that some are really upset about that movie informing the public (https://twitter.com/DC_Draino/status/1677479067505815554). We can always hope!
They’re really not bothering to hide it, are they?

There is a modern twist to this neopaganism though, in that it is weakness and failure that is exulted rather than strength.
So, Moses leads the Jews out of Egyptian slavery, goes up on the mountain to get the commandments, and what does he find when he returns . . A golden calf and a bunch of Normies.
Lol, yep

"Those tactics will get you nothing but a nonbinary grandchild."
Oof. And now to help both those children who already exist and their grandparents who still don't see how this could have happened.
Excellent as usual.
That sentence got me in the gut. I’m beginning to realize the depth of how little people actually care about anything.
I’ve told people, we’re looking more like Ancient Rome every day... and you don’t even have to go back to the ancients. Just think of the plight of children even in London or New York, in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Brilliant take on this madness! We need Christ and each other more than ever as to remain courageous and sane in this season before His 2nd coming.
Thank you for reminding me why, when I so often hear “you worry too much,”. I continue to pray and do what I can to fight this evil.
Powerful lot of Truth Sir! Very grateful for your words and courage!⚡️🙏
💯. Jesus is the only way out! Thanks be to God!
Thank you.
It's Christ or Chaos.
