Great article! I have a few patients now with significant mental illness (parents and kids) and I find myself praying for them daily as well as treating them to the best of my ability. I know darn well who is the Truth, the Way and the Life. And I love Him more than anything else and trust in Him to help me with my patients! May God bless all of us!
So what to do? My wife and I were having a discussion with our daughter the other day about the corruption of the medical establishment, sadly including medical schools at the top of the list. The phrase, "Physician, heal thyself" comes to mind. So the subsequent difficulty would apply to you: "No prophet is accepted in his own country." After years and years of study, with tens of thousands of dollars gone, who in the medical establishment is going to agree with you? And yet, here you are, speaking truth to power. Thank you! My hope is that if Trump wins, RFK Jr. will have a transformative effect on the federal level at FDA or elsewhere, and voices such as yours will be sought out to help turn this bloody ship around.
I see this with "common folk" too. I've "done my own research" on this subject or that subject, which really means that I've found people who agree with me and now I feel like my truth is the Truth. Common citizens who "do their own research" are generally not accessing article databases and performing meta-analyses. I think this is both a product of the loss of trust in the establishment and also just the other side of the coin (more fizzing, as you put it).
1.) You have to be taught how to do that sort of analysis and most people aren’t ever taught how.
2.) Doing such levels of analysis requires a baseline level of data accuracy which is currently lacking due both to incompetence and malice.
3.) Most of the papers and articles are behind a paywall and the average person couldn’t possibly afford to pay for all the research necessary for even baseline competence in most important areas of life. There’s little to no chance of getting your hands on original data for any amount of money.
4.) Even if you can analyze the data, have good data, and can access said good data it’s questionable how applicable that data is to any particular person or situation. A medication that is genuinely safe and effective for 90% of the population might kill me.
All this considered the real question is why would anyone waste their time on such a process?
I agree with everything you said. People say "that they've done their research" but what they really mean is "I've formed my own truth", both a byproduct and a mirror image of the lack of trust and transparency and removal of authority in the "institution". We/patients don't "trust" the doctor or believe in their authority anymore, so this feels like we are "taking control" of our health. But, it's just more fizzing
I think doctors are good when you have physical problems. But, the standard, you need vaccines/shots they nearly all push as rates of autism and autoimmune disorders explode and all manners of illness with covid shots, makes me think and know the tree is not producing good fruit.
Bless you for posting this! I will always have trouble trusting doctors, given my PMH, but I might have a change of heart if I were to meet a true believer.

Precisely, precisely, precisely. And there is a quote from Mary Poppins for every situation... "The wind's coming up and the glass is falling!"
