I have to wonder here - am I the only person who isn't really all that impressed by Home Alone? My mom hated TV and movies where the disobedient kid was supposed to be "cute". As a result, "The Simpsons", for example, was strictly forbidden. As weird as it seemed then, as an adult, I can really see her point!
Next time Home Alone comes on, try giving it another chance… he’s bad at the beginning, he pays for it big time, and he finds salvation and redemption in a church (they really hit you on the head with the symbolism, the guy from church who saves him has stigmata wounds), and the bad guys are defeated. For most of the movie he isn’t disobedient - he’s elaborately torturing criminals in defense of his house! : )
Now, Home Alone 2 is a different story (and that Trump cameo hits a lot harder now than back then), but I gotta admit I still love them both for sentimental reasons
Btw, in residency I worked at a clinic just a few blocks from the famous home alone house, it was pretty neat
