We need a revolution in education. The time is ripe for it as well with the technological changes that have occurred and the eye-opening event of the public school response to Covid.

Once again, so proud to read your writings. If only everyone could be this informed. Education…and everything else is really fouled up.

It's funny that you mention the film North by Northwest. A Hitchcock movie, the story centers around a man who is kidnapped by a group of thugs who have nefarious designs on the United States and have connections to the United Nations. It seems quite prescient, considering what that and other globalist organizations have been doing to undermine Western civilization.

I was ashamed at what I didn't know on that test, and I have a master's degree! I was proud, though, to know all the grammar questions--but from studying Latin for six years. My 10th grader now takes Latin, and her teacher was dismayed to have to first teach the kids what direct objects and participles were in English, as no one ever had.

How wonderful that your child has access to Latin! As a homeschooler, I taught myself Latin, then later tutored some local students who were enrolled at a local charter school. I immediately realized why they were struggling so badly: they had absolutely no grasp of English grammar. These where 9th and 10th graders. I am gleefully waiting or the day students realize they are being robbed of the education taxpayers have paid for, and sue every teacher, principal, and school board member.

Yes, after our public school system was closed for a year during covid we switched her to private school, which has its own downsides, but the Latin program is not one of them.

I too have a masters degree and am terrible at math so knew not ONE answer - I am going to learn the answers to all of the questions I don't know. I graduated H>S> in 1955 - and even then I didnt learn much was on that test.

What a wonderful history lesson.

As disheartening as it sometimes is to see the state of current mainstream education, I simultaneously am encouraged knowing that an ever growing number are opting out and homeschooling, or exploring a variety of other obviously superior paths for themselves or their children. Time will prove that our investments are worth it.

Thank you for this. The difference between systems in regard to resultant general competency is far different. Many of your points reflect the reasons my wife and I are hoping to homeschool or find a classical education program for any children we are blessed with.

People don't realize how much freedom homeschooling gives families. Me and my siblings were/are all homeschooled and were able to gain knowledge in programming, design, economics, history, research, etc. We were each given material to cater to our specific strengths and weaknesses, along with the basic foundational stuff, in attempts to create the most meaningful learning experience possible.

Would we have gotten any of that in a regular school? Nope.
